Facebook Places – Claiming your Listing

Facebook Places LogoWe’re sure you’ve all heard news the last couple weeks about Facebook Places – the new Geo-Location offering that Facebook has added to its platform (very similar to FourSquare).

While it may seem like Facebook is simply trying to steal FourSquare’s thunder – the numbers are quite staggering; FourSquare just crossed the 3 million user mark while Facebook already has over 500 million.  This is an app that will be worth taking notice of.

Your business’ Facebook Places Profile is what users will ‘Check-in’ to when they arrive at your hotel.  There is business specific information that you will want to ensure is accurate, so we highly recommend claiming your listing.  A few things to note:

  • If you don’t have or claim your profile, any Facebook user can create your business profile for you – leaving the accuracy of what they add to the profile in the business description up to them.
  • A Facebook Places Profile is not the same as a Facebook Page.
  • The first few steps require you to be on-site with a Smart Phone that has the Facebook app installed.

We have put together a user’s guide to creating, claiming and verifying your Facebook Places listing. Download our Facebook Places Guide to Claiming your listing today.
